The best way to
strengthen the muscle is
by imagining yourself trying
to stoppassing urine and
wind. It is a bit of an unusual
exercise to get used to but
once you’ve mastered it you
can do it just about anywhere.
If you maintain these
contractions for a few seconds
and perform regularly through
the day it will
help to strengthen this muscle.

Heat Treatment
Pain relief is also a big part of treating these problems. In the majority of cases, heat is an excellent form of pain relief. Most women find that having a warm bath during pregnancy is very relaxing. A hot water bottle or wheat bag at a warm temperature can also provide this relief when placed over the area of discomfort, i.e. lower back. It is important that it is warm and not hot to avoid any burns. Apply this a number of times a day for ten minutes at a time.

Muscle Maintenance
Another important part of treatment is maintaining strength in the muscles that become weak. As mentioned earlier, one of these muscles is the pelvic floor. Regular pelvic floor exercises can help
prevent some of the symptoms
mentioned previously.
